Starting with this class, I’m actually going to start making my own products. In class, the teacher showed us some product cases of famous brands.
My plan is to design a look that includes a suit and a skirt. Because this is what my customers like to wear in their everyday lives. When summarizing her information, I got a lot of helpful information for my design, such as she likes clothes with rich prints and bright colors, and she likes to buy vintage clothes. Therefore, I combined elements from my museum research and street art research, which enabled my products to have both retro silhouettes and bright and complex patterns on them.
This is where the profile I developed in the Collage homework comes in. I combined a couple of silhouettes that I liked, and I incorporated elements of suits, because my customer is a girl who likes wearing suits very much. In the process of researching street art, I came up with the idea of trying to use bold color matching to complete a piece of work, so I added this idea into my work when making my product this time. My printing pattern comes from the pattern on a vase that IMPRESSED me deeply when I visited the museum. The matching color was designed after studying the color of graffiti.
Through the study of this class, my design becomes more thoughtful, because I have a target consumer group, so I learned to cater to the scope of customers and at the same time to show their own theme and characteristics.
