There are two learning tasks in this class. In the first part, we choose the latest fashion show look of any brand and analyze its inspiration, technology and customers. The second part is making a sneaker.
The show I chose was Simone Rocha spring/summer 2022 ready-to-wear. She’s my favorite designer. Her works in this season are inspired by the birth of the newborn. She keeps the consistent style of the brand while making people feel what she wants to express intuitively through her own design. She maintains a good balance between the two, which I think is worth learning, and my next works should also have their own unique style. For example, the signature elements of Simone Rocha’s work are pearls and wide skirts, so I should consider what kind of signature elements my work should have to enhance the recognition.
In designing the sneakers, I studied some details from the show pictures and added my own ideas. My final design is very sweet, because I define this shoe as a collaboration with Simone Rocha. The biggest challenge this assignment brought me was to edit the publicity copy for my sneakers. This is the first time I’ve done this kind of writing. Since the beginning of the Toolbox course, I have completed many of my “first challenges”, which really taught me a lot of new knowledge and I am happy to see my progress these days. I think the place where I most progress in the management of the content of the course over fashion, this part of the content is I have no contact with before, but as part of the fashion industry, I think the sales skills and product itself is just as important, a good advertising can give excellent products to provide a better platform and have more visibility. All in all, I hope I can become a well-rounded student in the future.
