Toolbox 8

In this class, I will draw fashion illustrations for my products and make the final product.

In class, the teacher showed us many excellent fashion illustration works. I learned a lot of new drawing techniques. For example, you can focus only on the best parts of a picture and reduce the scale of the rest. Or you can combine painting and collage.

In my USP session, I learned that the development of fashion industry had better be carried out under the premise of environmental protection. I also designed a shop that makes clothes out of recycled fabrics. So I incorporated that concept into my suit. Instead of buying new fabrics, I made a paper suit out of my high school exercise book. I’ve been thinking about how to do it in a more environmentally friendly way with every step I’ve made. For example, when choosing the glue to stick paper, I thought of and learned a traditional way to make glue in our local area. The glue is made of flour and is used to paste couplets every Spring Festival. The skirt is also made of discarded materials.

I’m pleased with the final result of the suit. And in the process of production, I have more clear direction of my future major choice. I hope I can study women’s clothing or textile in my undergraduate study, because I think I not only have strong interest in these two majors, but also am very good at them.
